Kerestell Smith AKA LemmingVR.
Kerestell has been a software engineer at WorkDay for 9 years, and a VR enthusiast for almost as many. He and his team Eclipse excelled in Echo Arena to become the 2-time world champions in 2017 and 2018.
Now as the solo dev of the VR Project Gorilla Tag, he notes that the developers of Echo Arena created the “Rosetta Stone of VR.” He acknowledges that they set the standard high for in-game immersion and experience.
Curious and full of ideas, Kerestell set out to test out other ways to put their in-game principles to work with locomotion that mimics the real world.
As a result, he released a beta version of “Gorilla Tag” in February of 2021 that quickly, and unexpectedly struck a simian nerve in millions: We like to play. We know how to play tag. Tag is fun.
